See Prague Through the Eyes of a Local

A personal note from Tereza, founder of Prague by Locals

If you’ve just discovered my website, welcome 🤍

My name is Tereza, and I’m a licensed local guide in Prague and the heart behind Prague by Locals — a small, independent business offering private tours in Prague designed with care, warmth, and a truly personal touch.

But before I tell you about the tours, let me tell you why I do this.

Who I Am & What I Believe

I grew up in a small Czech village during communism, when travel felt like a distant dream. The world beyond our borders seemed far away and mysterious.

Years later, after living in the USA, Spain, Ireland, and Argentina, I returned home — and Prague stole my heart. What was meant to be a six-month stay became more than 16 years (and counting).

In 2013, I became a certified local guide in Prague. I’ve guided hundreds of travelers, I realized something important:

I didn’t want to guide for crowds.
I wanted to guide for people.

Today, I focus exclusively on private tours in Prague, because I believe travel should feel personal. Slow enough to breathe. Deep enough to remember.

When you walk with me, I don’t just share historical dates. I share context, emotions, everyday life, hidden courtyards, quiet gardens, scenic viewpoints, and stories you won’t find in guidebooks.

I guide the way I would guide close friends.

Because happiness comes from experiences — not things.

Why Choose a Private Tour in Prague?

Many travelers ask themselves:

“Do I really need a private guide in Prague?”

Here is what I see again and again.

Prague is beautiful on the surface — but layered underneath. Gothic, Baroque, Communist history, Jewish heritage, art, architecture, political change, modern life.

Without context, it’s just a postcard.
With context, it becomes unforgettable.

On a private tour, you don’t follow a raised umbrella.
You don’t strain to hear over 20 other people.
You don’t rush past something that interests you.

Instead:

We talk.
You ask questions.
We adjust the pace.
We stop for photos when the light is perfect.
We take a tram like locals do.
We sit in a cozy café if you need a break.

A private tour in Prague isn’t about luxury. It’s about connection.

And connection is what transforms sightseeing into experience.

What Travelers Are Really Looking For in a Local Guide in Prague

After years of guiding, I’ve noticed something important.

Most travelers are not just looking for information.
They are looking for:

• Someone knowledgeable — but not overwhelming
• Someone professional — yet warm and human
• Someone flexible and adaptable
• Someone who listens
• Someone who makes history come alive
• Someone who shows them more than the obvious

They want to feel safe.
They want to feel understood.
They want to feel that their time matters.

That is exactly what I aim to offer as your local guide in Prague.

Before every tour, I ask about your interests. Your pace. What you’ve already seen. Whether you love architecture, Jewish history, photography, hidden gardens, food, or simply beautiful views.

No two tours are ever identical.

What Makes Our Tours Different?

When I read my Google reviews, certain words appear again and again:

“It felt like exploring with a friend.”
“She tailored everything to us.”
“She brought history to life.”
“Hidden gems and local secrets.”
“She truly loves her city.”

One guest wrote:

“It felt like exploring the city with a family friend.”

Another shared:

“She brought Kutná Hora to life with fascinating details and thoughtful context.” (I do trips outside of Prague as well:-)

And one review that made me smile deeply said:

“Stop looking — I have found her.”

These words mean everything to me.

Because Prague by Locals is not a mass-tour provider. It’s my personal passion project. A small business built on trust, relationships, and genuine love for this city.

I combine must-see landmarks like Prague Castle, Charles Bridge, and the Jewish Quarter with quiet backstreets, local artists, scenic viewpoints, bakeries, and places I personally love.

And after your tour?
You’ll likely receive a thoughtful email with restaurant tips, breakfast cafés, hidden spots, and local recommendations — because your experience doesn’t end when our walk does.

More Than a Tour

For me, guiding is not about performing.

It’s about creating moments that feel real.

Moments where history suddenly makes sense.
Moments where you see Prague from a peaceful garden above the rooftops.
Moments where you feel connected — not just informed.

Whether you’re visiting for the first time, traveling as a couple, with family, or returning to Prague after years, I would love to help you experience it in a way that feels personal and meaningful.

If you are looking for private tours in Prague led by someone who truly cares, I would be honored to guide you.
